If You Don’t Have Clients Yet, Stop Stressing About Niching

Can we talk about this niche thing for a second? Because I see so many new VAs stuck here.

You haven’t landed a single client yet… but you’re trying to pick the perfect niche.

So you’re researching. Watching tutorials. Comparing yourself. Overthinking.

But NOT EARNING

Neighbor, you don’t need a perfect niche to start.

There are two paths as a VA.

You can start as a generalist, offering a few related services like inbox management, admin support, and social media support

Or you can position yourself as a specialist = one clear service, one clear type of client.

But when you’re brand new? Starting broad is often faster. Why?

Because you don’t even know what you enjoy doing yet.

Something can sound exciting in theory… until you’re doing it every day. Your first 1–3 clients are not about prestige. They’re about proof.

You’re building: Confidence. Experience. Testimonials. Skill.

And you can’t build that if you’re frozen trying to label yourself perfectly.

Now, please read this slowly. Staying a generalist forever will cap your income. At some point, you need to narrow down.

After working with a few clients, you’ll start noticing patterns.

You’ll see: What feels easy to you. What gets good results? What people keep asking you for. What you actually enjoy.

That’s when you specialize.

Clarity doesn’t come from thinking. It comes from doing.

So if you’re stuck right now, maybe the problem isn’t choosing the right niche.

Maybe the problem is waiting for certainty before you move.

Start with 2–3 related services. Get paid. Then refine.
